Genetic analysis for adult plant resistance of synthetic hexaploid wheats Syn.18, Syn.35 and Syn.36 against race 77-5 of leaf rust was studied. The three synthetic wheats were selected based on seedling susceptibility and resistance response at adult growth stage of the plant. The parents, F1 s, F2 s and F3 s were evaluated separately for APR and the genetic analysis in these genotypes showed that two dominant genes governed the adult plant resistance in field and it is proposed to be durable. The APR genes present in these synthetic wheats may be used as a new source for the development of new leaf rust resistant varieties in wheat.
