Abstract

Two papaya ringspot potyvirus isolates (P and W) from Delhi were evaluated for host range and serological features. P and W isolates had limited host range. P isolate was pathogenic to papaya [pawpaw] while W isolate was apathogenic. P was predominantly confined to Caricaceae and W to members of Cucurbitaceae only. The molecular weight of the capsid proteins was 34 kd in SDS-PAGE. Both the isolates had similar serological features as determined by direct antigen coated-enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (DAC-ELISA) with polyclonal antisera.
