Abstract

The sensitivity of three serological assays, indirect F(ab')2-ELISA, dot immunobinding assay (DIBA) and electroblot immunoassay (EBIA), in detecting cowpea aphid-borne mosaic, henbane mosaic and potato virus Y viruses was compared. DIBA was the mostsensitive assay, detecting upto 100 pg of virus followed by F(ab')2-ELISA which could detect upto 1 ng of virus in purified preparations diluted with sap extracts from respective non-infected tissues. EBIA could detect upto 100 ng of the virus.
