A total of 20 isolates of Aspergillus flavus group associated with maize, wheat and rice were isolated from different granaries of the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, Agronomy Division, Food Corporation of India at Rohtak and Faridabad (Haryana) and Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh). All the samples analysed showed high frequency of A. flavus, A. niger, Chaetomium globosum, Alternaria spp. and Penicillium spp. while other isolates were recorded at relatively low frequencies. Of 20 isolates of A. flavus tested, only 8 produced aflatoxin B1. Some isolates also produced aflatoxins B2, G1 and G2 in addition to B1. The maximum amount of aflatoxin B1 produced by an isolate was 1446.0 鎔/ml. 24 isolates of Fusarium: F. solani, F. moniliforme [Gibberella fujikuroi], F. equiseti and F. graminearum [G. zeae] were assessed for zearalenone production. Nine isolates were zearalenone producers.
