Abstract

Plant extracts and animal faeces were screened for their ability to control R. solani, the cause of sheath blight of rice. Inhibition or reduction of fungal growth was recorded with extracts of Allium sativum, Prosopis juliflora, Gynandropsis pentaphylla, Leucos aspera and Vitex negundo. Of the oilcakes screened, gingelly cake recorded 62.2% inhibition of the pathogen. Hen litter and pig dung recorded 90 and 52.9% inhibition of the pathogen, respectively.
