Urdbean plants grown in soil or in acid-washed sand watered with Hoagland and Arnon nutrient  solution (HAS) were used for tracing the accumulation of 4SCain leaves inoculated with the leaf blight pathogen, Rhizoctonia bataticola. An enhanced 4SCaaccumulation occurred in and around the lesions when the plants were fed with higher doses (400 or 500 ppm) of Ca as compared to a lower dose (100 ppm). There was an inverse correlation between the tissue Ca contents of urdbean leaves prior to inoculation and the leaf blight index (LBI) following inoculation with the pathogen.
