Abstract

Laboratory mutants of Venturia inaequalis resistant to two sterol inhibitors, viz., bitertanol and fenapanil were developed by adaptation and EMS mutation. Adapted mutants exhibited much higher resistance to test fungicides than the EMS mutants. Both the adapted and EMS fenapanil mutants completely lost ·the pigmentation and sporulation. The conidial size of bitertanol mutants showed significant reduction in their size over the sensitive strain.
