Abstract

There are 12 chapters in the book. First seven chapters provide introduction to plant virus classification, virus symptoms, mechanical transmission and virus isolation, virus purification, virus identification and virus transmission by biological means. The next four chapters deal with areas of applied virology like ecology and epidemiology of plant viruses, basic control measures, control through resistant cultivars and production of virus free plants. The last chapter provides useful information on introductory practical exercises. From the title of the book one would have expected more detailed treatment of various topics dealing with applied virology but almost equal emphasis has been given to all the aspects of virology included in the book. In a way this makes the book more useful for introducing the subject to the beginners.
