Abstract

Twenty three species and five varieties of the rust fungi belonging to seven genera, viz., Coleosporium (one sp.), Phakopsora (2 spp.), Puccinia (12 spp. and 3 varieties), Scopella (one sp.), Uredo (4 spp.) and Uromyces (4 spp. and one variety) have been studied and presented in this paper. Out of 28 taxa, two are new species, four species and two varieties have been recorded for the first time in India and remaining taxa are either new to the Maharashtra State or recorded on new hosts. Reuenelia berkeleyi Mundk. and Thirum. has been treated here as a variety of R. cassiaecola Atk., var. berkeleyi (Mundk. and Thirum.) Cumm. and J. W. Baxter.
