Abstract

Fourteen races from 37 conidial isolates of Erysiphe graminis tritici collected from different areas of Himachal Pradesh and 5 races from 12 ascosporic isolates collected from Lahaul valley were identified. Virulence patterns of two races from ascospores, and races 2 and 10 from conidia were similar. The most virulent races 3, 12 and rs were distributed throughout the areas sampled. In general, races from conidia were more virulent than races from ascospores. Races with very narrow virulence, or highly virulent races were either non-existent or rare.
