Abstract

The resistant cultivars (IS 121, and IS 3443) had uniformly high pith density along with higher estimated values of reducing sugar, non-reducing sugar and total sugars across the seasons at differenf crop growth stages. It is suggested that the higher values of pith density and carbohydrates in sorghum cultivars may be utilised .as possible physiological indices for identifying the resistant cultivars , against charcoal rot.
