Wilt intensity on brinjal crop due to the interaction of various soil borne pathogens

The interaction study between the pathogens associated with the soil borne diseases of brinjal indicated that the wilt incidence was invariably higher when nematode, Meloidogyne incognita, was present in combinations with other wilt causing pathogens such as Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. melongenae, Rhizoctonia solani and Ralstonia solanacearum. The study revealed that the pathogens individually and in various combinations caused variable level of increase in wilt incidence and reduction in plant growth index parameters. Maximum wilt incidence (100%) was observed, when plants were inoculated with M. incognita + F. oxysporum f. sp. melongenae + R. solani + R. solanacearum, at 30 days after transplanting (DAT). Similarly, when the plants were inoculated with all the four test pathogens, maximum reduction in plant height, shoot weight, root weight and yield was observed. The maximum nematode count was found in soil inoculated with M. incognita alone.
