Abstract

The tungro virus disease caused by a complex of two viruses, rice tungro bacilliform virus and rice tungro spherical virus, is one of the most important viral diseases of rice, DNA of rice tungro bacilliform virus obtained from the states of West Bengal, Assam and Andhra Pradesh was cloned. Analysis of clones indicated that the WB isolate was full length whereas the rest of the two were partial length. Using the presence or absence of restriction sites as an indicator of heterogeneity, the cloned WB isolate was found to be different from a similar clone reported earlier.
