Studies on the malformins of Fusarium spp. were carried out by paper chromatography and corn [maize] root curvature tests (using the variety Ganga-2). Fusarium moniliforme [Gibberella fujikuroi] var. subglutinans and Gibberella fujikuroi secreted malformins into the culture filtrates, which were similar to those of mango malformins, with regard to their Rf values and activities in maize root curvature test. It is concluded that mango malformins and malformins of G. f. var. subglutinans and G. fujikuroi appeared to be similar in nature.
