Abstract

Tridemorph (as Calixin) and mancozeb (as Dithane M-45) inhibited P. c. var. centaurea urediospore germination at all concentrations. Seed infusion of fungicide through organic solvent revealed increased fungicidal activity in systemic fungicides compared with non-systemics. Tridemorph, thiophanate-methyl (as Topsin M), carbendazim (as Bavistin) and triadimefon (as Bayleton) fungicides translocated to all parts of plant in 24 h. Seed treatment with thiram and triadimenol (as Bayton) controlled the foot and root rot of the seedling phase of safflower rust. Three sprays of tridemorph (0.5%), thiophanate-methyl (0.15%) or triadimefon (0.1%) were effective against safflower rust and also gave maximum yield.
