Abstract

The red pigment produced in sugarcane infected by red rot caused by Colletotrichum falcatum [Glomerella tucumanensis] was investigated. HPLC detected 3-deoxyanthocyanidin flavonoids luteolinidin and apigeninidin in diseased tissues. It is suggested that these substances may be phytoalexins of sugarcane.
