Pathological Effect of Lambda Cyhalothrin Pesticide on Male Reproductive System of Rats

Abstract

The purpose of the current study was to look at toxicopathological consequence of Lambda-Cyhalothrin Pesticide male rats. They were separated evenly into two groups after three weeks of acclimatization as follows: For 12 weeks, Group-normal C's feed and water were given to 10 rats. Group-T was given Lambda Cyhalothrin  (LCT) at a dose of 0.1 ml per 100 g of body weight for 12 weeks (n=10 rats). Significant decrease of sperm count and motility in treated group compare with control group and significant increase of non motile and abnormal sperms in treated group compared with control group. At the other hand; the exposure to Lambda Cyhalothrin resulted a decrease in testosterone hormone compared with control group. Finally, the pathological changes were at  macroscopic  and microscopically summarized by  atrophied and congested of testes and epididymis compared with control group. Microscopic changes included degeneration of testes and hyperplasia of epithelia lining of tubules and presence of debris inside of lumen lead to abnormal of spermatogenesis; increase number of degenerative changes in epididymis.

Interestingly, all the changes in this study were pointed that LTC had harmful effect on male reproductive system and the fertility.
