Appraisal within an inte-grated framework of the factors contributing to the increasing deterioration of the catch-ment of the Damodar and to flood flows is necessary to evolve a rational soil conser-vation programme for the best utilization of the lands and water resources of the basin and to understand properly the role of the various specialists in the execution of the programme. In new of the multi-purpose nature of our project, this kind of approach is all the more necessary for a co-ordinated and well-planned programme.
