Abstract

ACQUISITION of the reservoir beds for the Damodar Valley project resulted in collection of considerable data regarding the actual cultivating possession of tenants in a ceittin number of villages. Both agricultm al improvement and soil con-servation being duties statutorily imposed on the Corporation, opportunity was taken to study intensively sonic of these villages as it part of detailed studies in land use in the valley, A broad scheme of improved land use on a five-year basis has already been
drawn up and while the scheme as a whole
has not yet km put up for formal sanction, portions of it are being implemented as part of the resettlement scheme of displaced people. Systematic studies of soil, forest, fisheries, headwater storage and irrigation have been
taken up,
