Abstract

An expression which could satisfactorily explain the distribution of ions between the miceller and intramiceller solution would be of great use in ion exchange. Such an expression can be utilised in predicting and controlling the processes as plant nutrition, weathering and genesis of soils, formation and reclamation of saline-alkali soils and the hazardous effect of poor quality irrigation waters on irrigated lands. It will also be useful in predicting the changes in exchangeable cations and especially sodium percentage upon irrigating the fields with waters of high sodium contents.
