Effect of Irrigation on Soils of Baroda Farm

Soil survey of the Baroda farm was conducted in order to find out the causes of development of waterlogged conditions, salinity and suspected alkalinity on the farm.
Field examination of profiles and laboratory analysis of soil samples has revealed that saline conditions have developed in certain fields after receiving irrigation. Development of salinity seems to be mostly due to low permeability and rise of water table. Suitable reclamation measures have been suggested.
