Physical and Chemical Characteristics of Water Stable Aggregates of soils Under Various Land Use
16
Abstract
The effects of land use and seasons on aggregation of red loam soils of Ranchi have been studied recently by Kolay et al (1970). The informations on various characteristics of aggregates are however, scarce. The aggregates of 3 to 0.25 mm diameter of cultivated soils of Punjab were found to contain more clay, organic matter, total nitrogen and ex- changeable calcium than the finer fractions (Nijhawan and Dhingra 1946). In the present investigation, an attempt has been made to study the physical and chemical characteris- tics of water stable aggregates of various sizes in relation to soils under different land use.
