Studies On the Rate of Infiltration in Different Soil Types
36
Abstract
An experiment was conducted at the Agri- culture College farm during the year 1971 in three different soils to study the infiltration rate of water under varying condition by means of double ring infiltrometer under falling head. Application of five tonnes of gypsum per hectare was found to influence the infiltration rates in all the three soils signifi- cantly. Improvement in intake of water in all these soils, was noticed by the application of ten tonnes of farm yard manure over hand digging to a depth of thirty cms, and undisturbed conditions.
