Abstract

The importance of water for life system is well known. Agriculture is a major user of water for irrigation. With inadequate supply of good quality water in the counts)', the agricultural development is static. Use of other inputs like liybrid seeds, fertilizers, pesticides and management respond effectively when water is available for plant growth. Many areas in the country have saline/brackish ground water. Brackish water use is restricted due to its bad effect on soil characteristics and crop yields. In this paper various management measures have been described to achieve higher crop yields when good quality water is not available in adequate quantity.
