Abstract

Present study was carried out in the Amritsar district of Punjab during Rabi 2022-23 and 2023-24 in order to determine the yield difference between farmer practices and recommended practices under the Gobhi sarson (Brassica napus). During the study period, 92 farmers and 10 technical staff from Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Amritsar actively participated in the study period using the gobhi sarson canola in 40 ha area viz. 20 ha during 2022-23 and 20 ha during 2023-24, respectively. The study’s conclusions showed that, with an average of 1.94 t/ha, the plots receiving scientific proved and recommended technologies produced the maximum grain yield when compared to the farmer’s plots, received indigenous age-old practices reported with average of 1.77 t/ha showing a hike of 9.87% in prior plots. Further, the study highlighted that technology yield gap, extension yield gap and technology index (%) during 2022-23 was 2.87, 1.99 and 12.9 while during these values during second year varied as 2.75, 1.50 and 12.35, respectively with an average value of 2.81, 1.75 and 12.63. In comparison to farmer’s practice (2.32), the demonstrated plots, loaded with recommended practices, for gobhi sarson cultivation was implemented had a higher B:C ratio (2.78). Hence, PAU newly recommended production technologies can boost both gobhi sarson productivity, sustainably and profitability in the region, and collateral farming scenarios across emerging nations with improved living standards.
