Abstract

Results of field experiment conducted during 2000-2002 at Macchari farm under Central Potato Research Institute Campus, Modipuram, indicated that the integrated application of organic (either 25% or 37.5% through FYM) and inorganic (75% or 62.5% through urea) sources of nitrogen proved to be effective in obtaining higher tuber bulking rate, tuber yield and the percentage of bigger tubers than that of 100% nitrogen application through inorganic mode. Application of bio-inoculants (VA Mycorrhiza and Azospirillum) in conjunction with organic and inorganic sources of nitrogen did not improve the growth and yield parameters significantly. The lower values of specific gravity were recorded when organic sources were supplemented with inorganic sources of nitrogen.
