Abstract

Field experiments were conduded to evaluate the performance of two chipping cultivars Kufri Chipsona-1 and Kufri Chipsona-2 under sub-tropical conditions of west-central plains at different fertility levels. Results Indicated that the plant height, leaf number plant 1 and stem number per running meter of area were not mfluenced ,by fertility levels. Process grade tuber number and yield were not influenced by vanable fertihty levels. However, total number of tubers (49872 thousand/ha) and yield (291.10 q/ha) were slgmficantly low 10 CV. Kufri Chipsona-2, while both the parameters remamed unaffected due to varied nutnent levels Tubers of cv. Kufri Chipsona-2 had higher dry matter content than that of cv. Kufri Chlpsona-1 while sugar content and ChIP colour score was low In cv Kufri Chipsona-1 as compared to cv Kufri Chipsona-2. Chip colour and reducing sugars were not affected SIgnIfIcantly due to vanous nutnent combinations The application of 240 kg NT 120 kg, P205 and 140 kg K2O ha 1 was found optimum for realizing maximum process-grade yield 10 both the Chipsona vaneties.
