CONSUMER PERCEPTION OF CIPC TREATED POTATOES IN INDIA

Abstract
The study was conducted at Meerut (UP), Indore and Ujjain (MP), Deesa (Gujarat) and Samthian (WB) to understand the consumer percephons towards eIPe treated potatoes for table purpose vis-a-vis cold stored potatoes. Clear differences in consumer preferences were observed with respect to appearance, time taken for peeling and cooking, texture and taste. While 95% of the respondents at Deesa preferred cold stored potatoes; Which were sweet 10 taste, 94% of the respondents at Meerut preferred eIPe treated potatoes, Which were not sweet 10 taste At the other three locations, the preference was for CIPC treated potatoes (about 65%). In View of the consumers preference for CIPC treated potatoes, storage of potatoes at 10-12°C with CIPC treatment can be helpful in providing the consumers potatoes, which are not sweet In taste, during the summer and rainy seasons.Downloads
