Abstract

The average role performance scores of fisherwomen were found to be 53.08% and 48.03% for two samples studied from Kerala and Tamilndu. The results have shown that the role performance differs significantly from village to village in both samples. The major roles performed by fisherwomen and the average time spent on these roles were analysed. While pre-processing and fresh fish marketing were the major roles performed by fisherwomen in Kerala, fresh fish marketing and fishing net fabrication were major roles for fisherwomen from Tamilnadu villages. In the regression analyses for the two samples, the R2 values were found to be 0.3765 and 0.8022 with significant F values.
