A field experiment was conducted for three consecutive winter (rabi) seasons during 1996-97 to 1998-99 at Navgaon(Alwar) to workout a suitable weed control measure in Indian mustard [Brassicajuncea (L.) Czernj & Cosson] mainly
infested with Asphodelus and Chenopodium species. The results of the study showed that stale seedbed integrated with preplant fluchloralin @ 1.0 kg/ha achieved excellent control of all major weeds and recorded the highest seed yield of 1682 kg/ha with highest net return (Rs 12694 /ha). It was found to be marginally better than hand weeding twice in respect of seed yield. While Oxadiazon was found phytotoxic to the crop at both the levels, Pendimethalin and I soproturon were found only slightly_phytotoxic at 1.0 kg/ha.Pendimethalin@0.75 kg/haachieving satisfactory weed control did not show any visible phytotoxic effect on the crop.
