A laboratory and a field experiment were conducted at Seed Production Unit of the Institute, New Delhi during the Wzarif season of 2004 and 2005 to evaluate the influence of chloropyriphos on field emergence and seed yield attributes in 'Pusa Vishal' mungbean [Vignn radials (L) Wilczek] . The treatments consisted of variable doses of chloropyriphos (1 to 10 %) in combination with the recommended dose of thiram (0.25%), applied on the weight basis. The treatments were subjected to laboratory evaluation for germination test, seedling characters, seedling dry weight and vigour index I and 11. The same treatments were also evaluated under field situation and the observations on field emergence, podslplant, seeds /pod, pod length (cm), seed yield and 1 000 seed weight, were recorded. The pooled data was analyzed and the results revealed that there was no adverse effect on germination even when the dose of chloropyriphos increased up to 3% along with normal dose of thiram i e 0.25%. However, a higher dose of chloropyriphos (more than 4%) increased the dead seed per cent and influenced the seed yield components, viz podslplant, seedslpod and pod length adversely.
