Compared to its lower doses (1 and 1.5 %), glyphosate at 2, 3 and 4 % being at par with each other provided significantly better control of Lantana camura L. under noncropped situations during 1999-2002. The toxicity levels due to glyphosate at 2% were 95-98% at 75 days after treatment and 80-90 % at 360 days after spray during 1999- 2000 and 2000-01 respectively. Similar trend of toxicity was obsewed during 2001-02 at 45, 90 and 360 days after treatment. Glyphosate at 2 % was statistically superior to all other herbicides except MON- 8793, MON- 8794, XL-71 and XL-05 only at higher doses. Use of surfactant @ 0.1 % with glyphosate and glufosinate particularly at lower doses enhanced their efficacy to the extent of 2-1 0 % against this weed.
