Meteorological determinaants of the incidence of insect pests and their damage on cashew (.4iirzs2aceardium occide~.afabin) coastal region of West Bengal

Abstract

The study during 2002-2004 revealed that cool temperature conditions were favourable for the population build up of tea mosquito bug, leaf thrips, leaf folder and leaf miner during the entire period of investigation. It was also found that moderate temperature (not extreme condition), favoured the growth and development of the leaf and blossom webber population. Comparatively cooler temperature condition combined with moderate relative humidity encouraged population build up of flower thrips. Study also revealed that weather factors did not affect the incidence of cashew stem- and root-borer. Moderate temperature favoured the growth and development of the shoot tip caterpillar population.
