Abstract

Field experiments were carried out during rabi seasons of 1996-97 and 1997-98 at the University, Hisar to validate the BRASSICA model for Indian Mustard (Brassica juncea) at Hisar. Results revealed that the predicition of phenological development and biomass production in B. juncea was within the acceptable limits. However, the prediction of phenophase development had higher deviation during initial phase of crop growth. The prediction of leaf area index was significantly on the higher side. The prediction of above ground biomass and number of seeds siliqua at harvest was within the acceptable range of accuracy. However, the prediction of seed yield was lower than the observed.
