Abstract

The study was conducted on twenty-five mature Kadaknath hens procured from the Poultry Farm of College of Veterinary and Animal Science, Bikaner. The samples of ovary and oviduct were collected and processed as per the standard protocol for scanning electron microscopy and viewed under the scanning electron microscope. The present study revealed that the surface of ovary had an irregular appearance with numerous small rounded lacunae in between outer cortex and inner medulla. The mucosa of different segments of oviduct was thrown into longitudinal folds with various glandular openings on the mucosal surface. Small longitudinal folds with narrow mucosal ridges were seen at the junction of infundibulum and magnum. Secondary folds were also evident at the junction of magnum and isthmus. The mucosal folds of vagina appeared as narrow longitudinal folds, divided into secondary and tertiary folds.
