Histochemical Study on Prenatal Brain of Gaddi Sheep Fetuses
Keywords:
Gaddi sheep, Histochemistry, PrenatalAbstract
The present study was conducted on the brain of n=54 Gaddi sheep fetuses to study histochemistry at different stages of gestation. The prenatal brain samples were divided into four groups viz. Group-I (30-60 days), Group-II (61-90 days),Group-III (91-120 days) and Group-IV (121 days- till full term) based on their age (days) obtained by the formula, Y = 2.74X + 30.15, where Y is the age of embryos in days and X is the CRL in centimeters. Glycogen discerned a moderate reaction in the medulla, fourth ventricle, choroid plexus and piamater surrounding the cerebral cortex in Group III. A strong reaction to basic proteins was observed in Group I in the cerebrum. In Group II, a moderate reaction was displayed by the outer molecular layer of cerebellum along with the meninges lining it. A weak reaction for acidic mucopolysaccharides was observed in cerebrum of Group I and in choroid plexus of Group III.Downloads
