The present study was conducted on the sternum of blue rock pigeon. The sternum was quadrilateral in shape with dorsal concave and ventral convex surfaces and four borders. The anterior and posterior borders were convex. Rostrum sterni was triangular in shape with central small projection. The anterior extremity showed two facets for coracoids in between dorsal and ventral ridges. A large pneumatic foramen was present behind the cranial border. The lateral border on either side presented five pairs of costal facets for articulation with ribs. The dorsal surface had deep concave cavity, pars cardiac cranially and very shallow pars hepatica caudally. Numerous pneumatic foramina were present on the dorsal surface. Ventral surface showed two faint muscular ridges one on either side. The sternal crest was prominent, large triangular plate began below the ventral ridge of the cranial border and extended throughout the entire length of ventral surface. The cranio-lateral processes were small, very short and pointed. Sternal notch was presented between thoracic and caudo lateral process each side and a pair of oval foramen were present between caudo lateral process and caudal border. The morphological features of the sternum of pigeon conformed to that of flying group of birds.
