Gross and Morphometrical Studies on Occipital Bone and Foramen Magnum of Blue Bull (Boselaphus Tragocamelus)

The occipital was a single bone surrounding the foramen magnum and it was placed between the interparietal above, temporals laterally and sphenoid below. It consisted of 3 parts i.e. supraoccipital, lateral condylar parts and a basioccipital part. On lateral side of the ventral condylar fossa and immediately caudal to the tympanic bulla there was prominent but blunt bony projection called as paramastoid process. The foramen magnum was large and roughly oval in shape.
