The present study entitled “morphometrical and radiographic studies on patella of the Indian elephant (Elephas maximus indicus) was carried out in the Department of Veterinary Anatomy and Histology, College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry,Mhow (M.P.). Patella was roughly triangular, narrow and thick bone, with the convex dorsal base facing upward and the blunt apex pointed face down. Patella had an average weight, length and breadth of 489.66±18.06 gm, 11.5±1.87 cm and 9±0.81 cm, respectively. The patella presented two surfaces and two borders. On radiographic examination, the x-ray was taken keeping the bone in antero- posterior position a thin layer of compact substance was surrounding the bone. Medullary cavity was not present.
