Abstract

The present study was conducted on the humerus of Himalayan mongoose, a brown mongoose species which is native to the Himalayan region of Indian subcontinent. The specimen under study was collected from an animal that was hit by a moving car in Palampur. The specimen was preserved and the dissection was done to record the gross anatomical observations on the humerus of Himalayan mongoose. The humerus was a long bone and had a shaft and two extremities – proximal and distal. The maximum length of the humerus was 6.3 cm and the weight was 1.9 gm. In proximal extremity the greater tubercle was large with indistinct division. In the distal extremity there was presence of a supratrochlear and a supracondylar foramen.
