Abstract

The present study was conducted on 18 goat embryos/ foetii of either sex ranging from 17 days of gestation to full term. A pea sized roughly quadrilateral bilobed brownish liver was observed at 27th day of gestation. The liver with distinct lobes occupied almost whole of the abdominal cavity at 47 days of gestation. At 126th day of gestation, the liver occupied about two third part of abdominal cavity and its long axis was extended from 7th to 13th rib. The right lobe was larger than the left lobe. Till the full term, the liver was not completely oriented towards the right side of the abdominal cavity as in adult stage. The biometrical studies revealed that there was a positive correlation between weight, crown rump length and age of foetus with length, width, thickness and weight of liver.
