Abstract

The present study was conducted on duodenum, jejunum and ileum of Kadaknath fowl. The weight of
the duodenum on day 1 and 112 was 1.42±0.09 g and 12.84±2.50 g, respectively. The length of the duodenum
was found to be 12.57±0.71cm and 38.47±1.00 cm at the same observation days. The weight and length of the
jejunum ranged from 2.13±0.31g to 24.22±3.51 g and 30.67±5.38 cm to 84.56±3.02 cm in day 1 and 112 old birds,
respectively. The values for the weight and length of the ileum were 0.60±0.03g to 3.85±1.14 g and 9.77±0.42 cm
to 18.03±4.72 cm, respectively at 1 and 112 day of age. The total length of the three constituents i.e. duodenum
(38.47±1.00 cm), jejunum (84.56±3.02 cm) and ileum (18.03±4.72 cm) together formed the entire length of the
small intestine (141.06 cm) at 112 day of age.
