Abstract

The present study was conducted on comparative histomorphology of femoral artery in eight adult Deccani sheep and Bidri goat to know the structural differences between the small ruminants. Femoral artery of both the species was consisted of tunica intima, tunica media and tunica adventitia. Femoral artery of both species showed strong (+++) PAS positive reaction in tunica intima and tunica media indicating presence of mucosubstances, strong (+++) Alcian blue (pH 1.0) reaction in tunica adventitia indicating presence of sulfated mucosubstances. There was a significant difference in the thickness of total wall and tunica media in Bidri goat and Deccani sheep.
