Abstract

Prenatal development of lymph sacs in goats was studied using ten sexually indifferent foetii of various ages, to trace their morphogenesis and histogenesis. The first indication of the appearance of the lymph sacs in the present study was observed in an embryo of 12 mm CRL by 22 days of gestation. The embryo showed paired jugular sacs and an unpaired retroperitoneal sac. Later, by 24 days of gestation (in an embryo of 14 mm), cisterna chyli and paired iliac sacs appeared. Histologically, all the lymph sacs consisted of an endothelium and very thin adventitia.
