The present study was conducted on pancreas of six buffalo foetii divided into three groups based on their crown vertebral rump length (CVRL) viz; group I (0-20 cm), group II (20-40 cm) and group III (above 40 cm). The cryostat sections of 10 μ of fresh unfixed tissues were incubated in different substrates for histoenzymic localization of phosphatases, oxidoreductases and esterases. The study revealed a variable activity of Alkaline phosphatase, glucose-6-phosphatase, succinic dehydrogenase, lactic dehydrogenase, glutamate dehydrogenase, nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide hydrogenase diaphorase, glucose 6-phosphatase dehydogenase and non-specific esterases in different parts of pancreas during different stages of gestation. The enzymic activity has been correlated with their physiological function.Downloads
