Gross Anatomical Study on Kidney of Large White Yorkshire Pig

A study conducted on the kidneys of Large White Yorkshire pigs of either sex between the ages of 5-8 months. The morphological studies were conducted on the kidneys of 24 pigs and revealed that the left kidney was larger than the right. There was no significant difference between the weight, width, thickness, circumferenceand volume of right and left kidney. Both the kidneys were bean shaped, brown in color and smooth externally. The pig kidney had numerous and separate medullary pyramids.
