Abstract

Cytoenzymic staining of blood cells were evaluated from air-dried blood smears of ten apparently healthy Kadaknath fowls. The eosinophils showed moderately positive reaction of brown coloured granules for acid phosphatase enzyme. The heterophils and eosinophils showed moderately positive reaction of brown coloured granules in the cytoplasm for alkaline phosphatase. The eosinophils showed strong positive reactivity of brown coloured granules for arylsulphatase, light blue coloured granules for beta-glucuronidase and blue coloured granules for cytochrome oxidase. The granules of eosinophils showed positive reaction for peroxidase enzyme in the form of reddish brown coloured granules. The succinate dehydrogenase enzyme activity was seen usually at one pole in the cytoplasm of lymphocytes and monocytes.
