Abstract

Histomorphological and micrometrical parameters of epididymis were studied in ten apparently healthy Chamurthi horses. The tunica albuginea covered by tunica vaginalis formed the true capsule of the epididymis. The tunica albuginea was composed of smooth muscle cells and collageneous fibers. The capsule was thicker in the corpus region of left epididymis than the right one. The intertubular connective tissue was abundant and fairly vascular in the caput region. In the corpus and cauda regions, the intertubular connective tissue was less. The muscular layer thickness was maximum in the cauda and minimum in the caput region. The epididymal tubules were larger and wider in the cauda, but smaller and narrower in the caput and corpus, the diameter being the least in the later. The lining epithelium of the tubules was ciliated pseudo stratified columnar type. In the tail region villus like projections were present.
