Abstract

The present study reports the morphological and micrometrical study of the erythrocyte of Emu. The mean ± SE (range) of the Total Erythrocyte Count (millions/μl) of Emu was 2.44 ± 0.14 (1.59-2.87). The erythrocytes of Emu were biconvex, nucleated and oval cell. The mean ± SE (range) of the length (μm) and the width (μm) of erythrocyte obtained in this study were 13.2 ± 0.21 (12.8 - 14.4) and 6.45 ± 0.24 (5.33- 6.93) respectively. The erythrocytes studied under scanning electron microscopy were ovoid in shape with rounded ends and flat surface.
