Abstract

The ureter of Emu contained typical four layers of hollow tubular organs. It had large mucosal folds and a central stellate lumen. Mucosal lining was tall columnar pseudostratified columnar type. Propria and submucosa were continuous and filled with collagen connective tissue and blood vessels. Sub epithelial lymphoid aggregations were seen. Tunica muscularis consisted of well-developed with typical layers. Thick tunica adventitia was filled with dense connective tissue containing blood vessels and nerves. The ureteral epithelium showed an intense PAS and PAS-AB positive reaction in the tall columnar cells of the epithelium.
